Alstef Group’s AGV system boosts the production of PDG Plastiques - Alstef Group

PDG Plastiques has chosen Alstef Group to automate its plant at Le Malesherbois, near Orléans, with a fleet of 5 AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles).

The company designs and produces PET and recycled PET preforms, bottles, flasks and jars for the food and beverage, health and beauty, and chemical markets. In order to improve site performance, PDG Plastiques wanted to automate the flows of palletized boxes and metal boxes within its 3500 sqm injection workshop, dedicated to the production of PET preforms. Alstef Group designed a tailor-made system, comprising five AGVs for transferring loads at the heart of the plant.

Three GL 10.1 AGVs will operate in the production area, supplying the 20 production lines with empty boxes and transferring full boxes to the packaging line infeed. Two GF12.3s will evacuate pallets from the wrapping machine to the buffer zone.

All AGVs will be equipped with an Autoswap automatic battery recharging system, and will be managed by the OPAL software suite. Fleet management will be directly interfaced with PDG Plastiques’ central PLC, to be fully integrated into the plant’s global information system and to guarantee end-to-end load traceability. Commissioning is scheduled for early 2024.
