Glidepath Canada, now part of the Alstef Group, has been awarded its 15th Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) Recapitalisation – Standard 3 screening machine upgrade project, this time at Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF) in Ontario, Canada. The project is part of a terminal expansion to service Flair, WestJet, Sunwing, and Pivot airlines.
“To meet the schedule, portions of the project will need to be implemented during regular working hours and the airport will remain fully operational throughout the install,” says Regional Sales Manager, Gilles Labranche. “Glidepath Canada has the proven experience completing projects of this nature with little or no interruption to the daily airport operations.”
The first phase of this project includes the installation of two domestic arrivals carousels and is scheduled for completion in October 2021. The second phase consists of rework to the existing out-of-gage conveyors, including a temporary system install and an expansion of the outbound baggage system with two automated Self-Serve Bag Drops, collector conveyor, CATSA level 3 inspection/reconciliation room, an automatic bag alignment device, and cleared bag delivery system to the makeup carousel. Phase two is scheduled for completion by June 2022.
“Glidepath’s innovation and dedication to customer service stood out and helped them win the competitive process for this project,” commented Chris Wood, General Manager of Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF). “We are looking forward to working with them during this exciting moment for the Region and YKF as we grow to meet the demand and build for the future economic and tourism growth.”
Glidepath Canada and the wider Alstef Group have a long history with Canadian airports dating back to the year 2000. “We are delighted to partner with Waterloo International Airport on this expansion project and hope to remain a part of any future baggage system requirements,” says Gilles.
