Nexans and Alstef Group : A renewed partnership - Alstef Group

Nexans, a major player in the design and manufacture of cables renews its confidence in Alstef Group for the renovation of its automated system on its site in Autun.

Nexans, a French multinational and leader in designing and manufacturing cable systems and services, has 2,300 employees worldwide and employs 200 people in Autun, located 100 km south of Dijon. For more than twenty years, this factory has been the first 100% automated logistics platform in France and the group’s innovation flagship site. The collaboration with Alstef Group began in 1997, the starting point for the site’s automation, with the equipment of a 4-aisle high bay warehouse, a warehouse, a network of shuttles, a picking area, and a double shuttle to interface with production.

Today, Nexans is renewing its confidence in Alstef Group and in its Retrofit Business Unit for the treatment of the obsolescence of all the automated systems of the flow process, and for the migration towards the positioning technology of the main axes of the stacker cranes which can improve the cycle times by 5 to 10%. This improvement project also includes the installation of WIFI for data transmission throughout the installation as well as the migration of the supervision. This work will be carried out over two years with a total of 12 separate stages to ensure optimum service continuity on site.

Automated installations are evolving according to needs and new technologies. Aware of this challenge, Alstef Group’s Retrofit Business Unit offers the treatment of obsolescence through the modernization and migration of installations (automation, electrical engineering, and IT) in order to secure the flow and storage process. As a major player in the field Alstef Group accompanies its customers in the continuous improvement of their equipment for always more efficiency.
