Ouest France and Alstef Group extend their partnership | Alstef Group

Ouest France renews its trust in Alstef Group | BA Systèmes for the automation of its flows, with the extension of its AGV installation.

Ouest France is the leading French daily newspaper with more than 700 000 copies published per day. The newspaper has two printing centers in the west of France. The collaboration between Ouest France and Alstef Group starts in 2010 with the automation of the site located at La Chevrolière, near Nantes, which is equipped with a fleet of 4 AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles). Operating at the heart of the production unit, the AGVs transfer paper reels between the various areas of the facility. In 2016, a second printing plant, in Chantepie, near Rennes, acquired two AGVs.

At the end of 2023, La Chevrolière will receive a new rotary press. In order to ensure the new rates and expected flows, two new AGVs will ensure the automatic feeding of the press. These GBH-type AGVs have been specially designed for the paper industry and guarantee the integrity of the loads. They are equipped with a fork gripper with retractor dedicated to the transport and storage of the reels, as well as waste bins.

This extension of the AGV circuit will be supported by the creation of a gateway ensuring dialogue between the new generation AGVs and the existing fleet. The six vehicles will thus coexist in an optimal way within the new system thanks to the supervision software developed by Alstef Group.

The installation will be commissioned at the end of 2023.
