YHU Terminal at MET - New BHS
Delivered in partnership with PCL and YHU Infrastructure Partners, the system supports YHU Terminal at MET's transition into a new commercial aviation hub as part of the airport’s major terminal development.
About this Project
- Client: YHU Infrastructure Partners / PCL Construction
- Location: Longueuil, Québec, Canada
- Scope: Design, Supply, Installation and Commissioning of a New Baggage Handling System
- Completed: 2026
Background
Alstef Group was selected to deliver the baggage handling system for YHU Terminal at MET, supporting the airport's transition from a regional facility to a modern commercial aviation hub.
Formerly known as Montréal Saint-Hubert Airport, the airport has undergone a major transformation, including the construction of a new passenger terminal as part of a CAD $200 million investment programme. The project is central to YHU Terminal at MET's vision of redefining air travel through innovation, sustainability and an enhanced passenger experience.
The Solution
Alstef Group delivered a complete outbound and inbound baggage handling solution designed to support efficient passenger processing and secure baggage operations.
The Challenge
As a greenfield airport development, the new terminal required a baggage handling system capable of supporting the airport's future growth while delivering the reliability, security and operational efficiency expected of a modern commercial airport.
The system needed to integrate advanced baggage screening technology, support airline operations from day one and provide the scalability required for future passenger growth.
At the same time, the project required close coordination with multiple stakeholders, including terminal developers, construction partners, airport operators and regulatory authorities to ensure successful integration within the wider terminal programme.
“As with any greenfield airport development, collaboration has been critical,” said Sarah Delude, Alstef Group Project Manager. “The successful completion of this project reflects the strength and commitment of our delivery team and the way we have worked together with our partners to bring the system online successfully.”

The system includes:
- 28 check-in conveyors
- Collector conveyor system
- Out-of-gauge baggage handling line
- CTX 9800 Explosives Detection Systems (EDS)
- High-capacity makeup carousels
- Airline sortation functionality
- Two inbound flat-plate baggage reclaim carousels
The solution was designed to streamline baggage processing, maximise operational efficiency and provide a seamless passenger experience from check-in through to baggage reclaim.
The Outcome
Substantial completion of the baggage handling system marks an important milestone in the development of YHU Terminal at MET and its evolution into a new commercial aviation gateway for the Greater Montréal region.
