GLIDEPATH DELIVERS A NEW TURNKEY BAGGAGE HANDLING SYSTEM TO YXS

At Prince George Airport, Glidepath converted the airport’s Level 5 Hold Baggage Screening system (HBS) to Level 3, to bring the airport in line with CATSA requirements for HBS recapitalization. The work required the replacement of the primary EDS machine, the supply and installation of new conveyors, the modification and relocation of existing conveyors, and the dismantling of the secondary EDS machine, diverters, and gravity rollers. Glidepath supplied and installed of all instrumentation and controls related to these systems, and oversaw all the resulting architectural, mechanical, electrical, telecommunication, and structural work to the building.

The project’s deadline was met due to careful planning and scheduling—a lot of thought and consideration was given, as the airport’s building presented several major challenges to the conversion: space constraints and structure, most notably, asbestos-filled walls, which necessitated careful planning and workarounds to both maintain the airport’s schedules and satisfy all local and federal regulations and health and safety requirements.
